Like many young Irish,i spent the summer time in San Diego,California. An absolutely gorgeous place, beautiful weather and really welcoming people!. But I have to say they were so dim. Don't get me wrong I'm very fond of Americans,my aunts married to one, but the questions we were asked in America were just unreal!.1: Do you have electricity in Ireland?
2: How come you don't have red hair and freckles?
3: Does every other girl have red hair and freckles?
4: Do you say "top of the morning" when you wake up?
5: Are you really all alcoholics?
6: Are there such things as leprechauns?
7: Do you have car's in Ireland?
And of course the old reliable
8: Your Irish,oh me too,my great aunts,mothers cousin was Irish!
One poor girl noticed I was Irish and got very excited, so naturally I thought she was going to say she was Irish, or that she knew someone from Ireland, no, she went on to explain that her boyfriend was from Wales!!!!...Wales, a completely different country to Ireland. I just sympathetically smiled at her and left.
God love them!
